Beth is Deputy Director of Press Pass NYC. This nonprofit helps New York City public schools launch and sustain student news publications by training and coaching the teachers and students. Beth creates materials for the organization’s public facing work, including social media, and researches and writes grant applications. She also serves as an in-house expert who can help the teens and their educators refine their story ideas and develop sources.
As XQ’s Senior Education Editor, Beth wrote and edited the website plus numerous internal and external projects. She led a partnership with the education news site The 74, writing and editing all sponsored content: articles about XQ’s schools that also reflect the organization’s point of view about how to modernize the high school experience. She collaborated with educators to help them write opinion pieces for broad audiences about their areas of expertise, from AI to project-based learning. Beth still consults for XQ.
Beth interviewed educators featured in “The First Class” documentary for videos promoting the film. She also wrote and edited content on the film’s website promoting innovative approaches to high school education that can be used anywhere.
